Sinusitis

Sinusitis can be experienced as pain in the forehead, eyes, cheeks, temples, teeth and at the back of the head and neck. Symptoms associated with the condition include cold or flu like symptoms and headaches that happen when there is a swelling or accumulation of mucus that affects the secretions from the sinus areas. Pain, associated with sinusitis, is caused by unequal pressure created when fluids build up and the passage of air is blocked around the sinus areas.

Treatment

The sinuses are located in the Frontal bone (above the eyes), the Ethmoid bone (behind the upper portion of the nose), the Sphenoid bone (behind the eyes) and in the Maxillary or cheekbone and an osteopath will treat the affected areas through gentle Cranial osteopathic techniques.

NICE - The National Institute for Clinical Excellence recommends a course of manual therapy, including spinal manipulation (including osteopathic), for the early management of persistent non-specific lower back pain.
