He is widely considered the first physician in the Western world to have treated each patient as a whole, while searching for the cause of dysfunction rather than treating the symptoms. When Gabriel was 3 weeks old, Kerry was at her wits’ end. He had begun crying uncontrollably: before, after and between feeds. Nothing she could do would calm him.
